After eating and having a few beers we took a 1½ hour scenic drive through the river flats and vegetable farms and then drove on through Bairnsdale to Paynsville where we stayed the night.

We had a magnificent meal of garlic prawns and salad and steaks and vegetables ...all local produce, no frozen rubbish here!

Farmers Home Hotel - Lindenow Pub and TAB - is friendly country pub with something for everybody. They are open 7 days a week with wood fired pizzas and their famous bistro meals. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and were treated as one of the family... this is a family operated hotel with a genuinely friendly country atmosphere.

The first time in went into this establishment, I was hit with the family atmosphere, lovely wood fire pizza smells, and the other customers seemed like family...excited, we st down, ordered the 'famous' wood cooked pizza for me and my partner..45 mins later, we had our pizza..undercooked and with specific ingredients we asked to be left off, were plentiful..not a good impression...The second time, ordered oysters.again, late, but the thing that stopped me going back? The rudeness of the staff....of you're thick skinned, then you prob won't mind, even find it a challenge...but not to a young family with a Yong child...in which was also told off for numerous things and nearly in tears from the staff...so, no..not a good happy place to eat..however, they recently changed management and wish to go back z and give it another go..5 years later now...
